Food Irradiation Policy documents

Many manufacturers have contacted us seeking help in writing an irradiation-free policy. You can easily incorporate irradiation into any genetically engineered food policy you may have, or you can copy one of our examples below which received a green rating.

Food outlets, retailers and  wholesalers  can also use these guidelines to make their businesses irradiation-free. Simply change the words "produce" to "sell"  to show your commitment to not putting irradiaited products on the market!

EXAMPLE 1

"It is our policy at --------- to produce (sell) products that have not been irradiated or contain irradiated ingredients."

EXAMPLE 2

"------------ will commit to not using (selling) irradiated products or ingredients now and also in the future."

EXAMPLE 3

"All products processed (sold)  by ---------------------  are not irradiated. We have a guarantee from relevant suppliers that additives and ingredients are derived from  non-irradiated sources. We will continue to require such assurances from our suppliers into  the future."

EXAMPLE 4

"We are oppossed to unneccessary technical intervention in food. This is reflected in our strict policy of not buying or selling any product that may contain any genetically modified ingredients, nor will we use or buy products that have been derived from genetically modified foods or ingredients.

We are also opposed to the irradiation of foods. We do not irradiate food, nor do we buy (or sell) iradiated food or ingredients. Our mission is to make avaiable to the consumer foods that are natural, free of chemicals and artificial additives and ecologically sustainable."
